Book Summary
This book is an anthology written by a diverse group of 40 individuals from around the world. They come from all walks of life, yet they are all united by the choices they have made. Confessions of a Caffeine Addict covers all major products including coffee, tea, yerba mate, energy and sport drinks, soda, caffeine pills, diuretics, medicine, chocolate and other foods containing the drug.
All have acted from their hearts and here, in the pages of the book, they have written from their hearts, telling the stories of what brought them along to their own conclusion about their use of caffeine.
This book was written to inspire more people to make informed choices, to know that their actions do make a difference and to know that, in their efforts to tell their tales anonymously, that they are not alone.

| Praise for "Confessions of a Caffeine Addict"
|
|
“If you are an addict
you need to ask yourself what is missing
from your life that you
attempt to fill with the addiction.
Caffeine can have its
benefits too, but not when used
in an abusive and self-destructive
manner. So let these stories
help you to focus on your
lifestyle and behavior and
help you to love yourself,
your life, and your body.” — Bernie
Siegel, M.D., author of 365 Prescriptions for the Soul
and
Faith, Hope & Healing

“Thank God for this
book! The physical, emotional, and
financial cost of caffeine
on the public’s health is staggering.
This book will help you
realize the dangers of caffeine
overload and the benefits
of reducing caffeine from your
diet. Read this book and
share it with the people you love.
They’ll thank you for
it.” — Dr. Sandy Bhasin, Chiropractor,
Dr.Bhasin.com

“You don’t have to
be a caffeine addict to relate to Confessions
of a Caffeine Addict.
In fact, I don’t know anyone
without an addiction!
Some of them, like caffeine, just happen
to be more socially acceptable,
but they all fall into the
bucket of addictions nonetheless.
What Kushner brings
forth in her personal,
poignant way is how addictions can be
physiologically and psychologically
gripping. I believe most
people will relate to
her heartfelt stories and extract a deeper,
spiritual message that
goes beyond even the bottomless cup
of java.” — Deanna
Minich, Ph.D., CN, author of Chakra
Foods for Optimum Health
and Quantum Supplements

“Every day you have
a choice about what you put in your
body. Confessions of a
Caffeine Addict is the shocking and
hidden truth you must
know about soda and coffee.”—Evan
Money, author of The One Day Diet

“Fantastic! Inspiring
tales for anyone who ever had to face
the very real symptoms
of caffeine addiction. In this fast paced
world filled with sodas
and espressos, Confessions of
a Caffeine Addict is a
must read.” — Heidi Gunderson, author
of Migraine-Free
Cooking

“This is an excellent
collection of caffeine and soda junkies
stories. Being a Functional
Medicine doctor for many years,
I daily see the damage
that long-term abuse of one of the
most commonly used drugs
has on the gradual deterioration
of many of those whom
I have to “detox” from the
caffeine addiction. I
highly endorse Confessions of a Caffeine
Addict for motivation
for those procrastinating breaking
their caffeine addiction!”
— Douglas Husbands, DC,
CCN, ABAAHP, DrHusbands.com

“These stories will
convince even hard-core caffeine addicts
that they can end their
struggles with caffeine. I know I’ll
be recommending this book
to my clients who need a hit of
inspiration!” — Alexandra
Jamieson, CHHC, AADP, author
of Living
Vegan for Dummies

“Whether you are a recovering
caffeine addict or just know
one, you will laugh and
cry with those who have experienced
gripping the coffee cup
a little too tightly. It’s simply
an invaluable resource.”
— Dr. Ben Johnson, co-author of
The Secret of Health:
Breast Wisdom

“Anyone who finds oneself
medicating with caffeinated
soda or that expensive
cup of java in order to deal with stress
needs to read this book.”
— Larrian Gillespie, author of The
Menopause Diet

“This book is about
real people, real lives, and real stories
of caffeine addiction.
It can be read in short bits and pieces,
ideal for someone like
me who doesn’t get a great deal of
spare time. Very well
done!” — Denise Lamothe, PsyD, author
of The
Taming of the Chew

“It’s not surprising
that the most abused drug on the planet
leaves a trail of addicts
in its wake. These painful stories of
abuse, addiction, and
withdrawal should make you wake
up and smell the coffee.”
— Susan M. Kleiner, Ph.D., RD,
FACN, CNS, FISSN, author
of The Good Mood
Diet

“Caffeine is an addictive
drug. These stories bear testament
to the serious dangers
of overconsumption and the major
problems people face when
they try to quit caffeine. If the
thought of a week without
caffeine gives you the jitters you
need to read this book.”
— Patrick Holford, founder of the
Institute for Optimum
Nutrition

“These stories need
to be told. People laugh off the buzz, the
high, and the crash of
caffeine as if it weren’t a ‘real’ drug.
These gripping stories
show that it is very real and—for
many—dangerous and damaging.”
— Victoria Moran,
HHC, AADA, author of Fit from Within and Th

Powered Diet

About the Author
As more people than ever before become aware of the risks of improper diet and nutrition, Marina Kushner delivers her message on the dangers of caffeine
to an ever increasing audience anxious to improve its health and well-being.
Her book, The Truth About Caffeine, explores the historical and social impact of caffeine throughout the ages. The book provides vital information to help consumers make informed decisions regarding their caffeine consumption.
Marina Kushner was born in the Soviet Union and raised in Moscow. Kushner received her education at Moscow University, majoring in journalism, and worked for a major Russian newspaper Izvestia. Working under the pressure of daily deadlines, Kushner, as her colleagues, made it through the day on a diet of coffee and cigarettes. In 1991, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Kushner decided to take a long-awaited trip to New York City, where she had the good fortune to meet her future husband. She chose to make New York her home. Adjusting to the many obstacles of a new country such as cultural and language barriers, Marina
Kushner quickly undertook the task of studying English and creating a life for herself in America. Kushner chose to make her health her #1 priority and became very interested in nutrition. She learned that caffeine consumption is linked to heart disease, pancreas and bladder cancer, hypoglycemia, and central nervous system disorder and decided to write a book in order to help to shed light on the harmful and often under-reported facts about caffeine. The Truth About Caffeine, published by SCR Books, LLC and released in March 2006, provides readers with insights into the dangers of caffeine. Marina Kushner continues her efforts regarding caffeine awareness. She has contacted the FDA to request that it require manufacturers to list the exact amount of caffeine on products offered to consumers.
In 2003, Marina founded the Caffeine Awareness Alliance (CAA), a non-profit organization dedicated to educate consumers, health care providers, and the
resale about caffeine dependence. CAA sponsors National Caffeine Awareness Month, a nationwide event, held annually in March. Recognized by numerous state
and city governments, the campaign helps enlighten consumers about the real risks associated with caffeine and the benefits of a caffeine-free lifestyle. Additional information on caffeine dependence and intoxication can be found on her website: www.CaffeineAwareness.org
